Teachers use documentation to activate memories, prior knowledge and to celebrate learning, learning dispositions and thinking. At its best documentation, clearly reveals in a student accessible way:
- what we set out to learn
- why this thing is worth learning
- how we learned,
- what we learned
- what we still want to learn (our questions)
At Tokyo International School we are now looking at ways we can promote documentation digitally around our school for example on the Apple TV in the main foyer and on TVs in classrooms. This video is an example of documentation. It's hardly inquiry learning (as it was an assembly). But when we document inquiry in this same general format the documentation has learning potential we think.
